Italian Sausage & Pepper Sandwich with Spicy Aioli

Ingredients

Made with organic chicken sausages and a homemade, calabrian pepper garlic aioli, these leveled-up sausage and pepper hoagies are a flavor-packed favorite on game day.

• 4 hoagie rolls
• 1 package True Story Organic Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage
• 1 large white onion, sliced
• 1 red bell pepper
• 1 orange bell pepper
• 1 yellow bell pepper
• 1 tbsp beef tallow
• Fresh chopped parsley

Calabrian Pepper Garlic Aioli Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup mayonnaise
• 1/2 to 1 tbsp hot Calabrian peppers, chopped in oil (start small and adjust heat to preference)
• 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
• 2 cloves of garlic, crushed with press
• 1 tsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
• 1/8 tsp salt

Directions

1. Preheat grill or skillet to medium/high heat
2. Add beef tallow to a cast iron or grill safe skillet, then add onions.
3. Sauté onions until soft, then add bell peppers and continue to sauté until browned.
4. Prepare the Calabrian pepper garlic aioli while peppers and onions are sautéing: add mayonnaise, hot calabrese peppers, parmesan cheese, garlic, lemon juice and salt to a bowl and whisking until smooth. Set aside for flavors to come together.
5. Grill or sauté True Story Foods Organic Sweet Italian Chicken Sausages until browned and heated through.
6. Assemble sausage and pepper sandwiches: add an even layer of the calabrese pepper garlic aioli to inside of hoagies followed by the peppers and onions and True Story Organic Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
