Ingredients

What could be better than pigs in a blanket? How about pigs in a blanket…with bacon? Whether for game day or just for fun, this is an appetizer or snack that is sure to please a crowd. Recipe by Dana Plucinski of @baydish.

  • 6 slices True Story Food Kurobuta Uncured Bacon
  • 1 package puff pastry dough (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 package True Story Foods Grass-Fed Uncured Beef Hot Dogs, cut into thirds
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • Dip of choice (such as queso with fresh chives)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil, and another with parchment paper.
  2. Lay the bacon slices on the foil-lined baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes, to your desired level of crispiness. Cool bacon on a paper towel-lined plate. When cool enough to handle, roughly chop into small pieces.
  3. Using a rolling pin, roll out the thawed puff pastry. Cut the dough into long rectangles, and then diagonally into triangles.
  4. Sprinkle each triangle with a pinch of crumbled bacon, add a hot dog third, and then roll until the dough fully covers the hot dog. Secure with a toothpick if needed, and place on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Using a pastry brush, brush each pig in blanket with the whisked egg.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until pastry is evenly golden brown.
